Do I eat more or eat less to lose weight and fat?
Toast asked:
ok this is really confusing me. I’ve read on a few websites that in order to lose weight/fat you need to eat more so your metabolism doesn’t go down but more doesn’t mean like more calories just smarter choices like vegetables but on other websites i’ve seen eat less. so which is it?

Lose weight, Lose Fat

How To Lose Weight Free 60 page Book
You lose muscle before fat. Muscle weighs more than fat, that’s what people get caught up on. When you begin exercising, you’ll gain weight, because you’re body is getting stronger.
So you can starve, lose muscle and then lose fat. Unless you want to be skeletor, you need to exercise and cut down on the calories minimally.
Ideally, you want to exercise, gain muscle weight, and slowly lose fat by eating a little less than normal – not go on a starvation diet.

It depends on how much you eat now, and how high your calorie intake is now.
But basically you dont have to eat less, unless your totally stuffing yourself everyday. The critics are pretty much saying cut out the excess fat, sugar, and salt. Like any fast food place, soda, candy, ice cream, etc.
It’s not HOW MUCH you eat, but the QUALITY of the food you eat.
Oh, and also “The key to a healthy lifestyle is exercise.”
Need to lose weight?
It is suggested, from what I see, that you eat 6 smaller meals a day as apparently, when you go without food for a long period of time, your body goes into starvation mode and conserves calories.
But you should make each meal no more than 250 calories, I believe.
I think 4-5 meals should be perfectly adequate, maybe 3 main meals and 2 smaller snacks.
Lots of fruit and vegetables are always good, as well as things like ricecakes and diet yoghurt.
Need to lose weight?
Weight gain is a simple concept of calories in versus calories out.
Calories In:
You have it right, it’s about smarter choices. Eating more actually means eating MORE OFTEN, but not more food. This allows for a more consistent metabolic rate, and without consistency your metabolism can slow down. The human body is amazing in regards to conserving energy, which is why your metabolism can seem to slow down with less frequent meals. A very important thing to watch is the size of your portions, even when eating less fatty foods. People feel that they can eat a large meal and still be healthy, because they ate something that was somewhat healthy. Just remember that the larger the portion, the more calories involved, no matter what it is.
Calories Out
More frequent meals are better than less frequents meals in regards to maintaining a higher metabolic rate.
Exercising makes an incredible difference as well, as you are expending more energy during any given time frame. Also, exercise can result in an increased metabolic rate for up to multiple hours after you have completed it, meaning that your body will be using more energy than it would normally.
If your goal is to burn fat, try exercises that require more stamina, such as walking or jogging. Carbohydrates are typically the first source to be burned, so longer exercises are more efficient for burning fat.
I hope this helps!
