How do you begin a Vegan diet?

BuFaNdA asked:

I am a junior in high school and a track athlete. I want to become faster and eat a vegetarian diet. The problem is I have never did a diet like this and want to know how do you go about starting a vegan diet. Do you start gradually eliminating things that are not in the vegan diet or do you quit “cold turkey”. Also can anyone provide me with list or any websites, book, magazines, etc of foods that are needed to sucessfully start this diet.

    Losing weight without starving yourself

The first thing to do is completely cut meat out of your diet. Then you can work on coming up with a plan about what to eat during the day. The best thing is not to fast. That actually runs nutrition out of your body. As well as being a Vegan. It’s actually better to eat Meats, Vegetables, Fruits, and Grains. Then you get all the vitamins and protiens that your body needs and you aren’t cutting anything out. But, it’s up to you.

I don’t know how, but you can get a lot of answers from the “vegetarian” section in Yahoo!Answers (look under food & drink.)
