How do old people stay slim?

Genius asked:

Honestly, I see old people( both women and men) extremely skinny and they are old. I wondered at first about how do they stay slim(it is in my knowledge that the older a person is, the slower the metabolism goes). So I also wondered if they starve all day or most days to stay slim. Just wondering, if you know the mechanics of this, please answer. Thank you.

    Want to lose weight?

old people can eat whatever they want and not move much because their digestive systems work so quickly.( it is why they go to the bathroom so much.)

    Lose weight fast

How old? I know some older people who just work out a lot and probably eat good. They can do this in their 60s, possibly early 70s. If you’re talking about really old, I just think it is something that happens as you get “really old” like 80s or 90s. People tend to grow down as they get really old, but around 50s to 70s… they can definitely just work out.

    Lose weight fast

The metabolism tends to slow as we age, yes. But, some people(of all ages) have a naturally fast metabolism. Not all elderly people have the same diet, fitness level, health concerns and matabolism. =)

    How to Lose Weight

You kids are a hoot. I’m 54, and I’m sure that qualifies as old to you. I’m 5′5″, weigh 120 pounds and wear a size 0. My BRM is 2347, hardly a slow metabolism as you suggested we old folks have. I poop once a day, quite normal. No, I don’t starve myself all day, I quite enjoy about 3000 calories.

I do, however eat healthy foods, stay out of fast food restaurants and work out daily at least 90 minutes. My workouts include cardio, resistance and yoga.

So, please, retire your antiquated ideas of how old people stay in shape. We work at it, just as we always have, before we got old.
